The demolition was in process one month later on October 13, 2000:

This is part of the big mess:

Demolition cleanup

Cleaning up is a huge job:

More demo stuff

This is all that was left of the garage. You can see how the fire and demolition process even destroyed the driveway, which was eventually removed. They used a small bulldozer to dump load after load of rubble into the huge dumpsters.

Demolition View of Garage & Dumpster

Unfortunately, the demolition crew brought in by Global Construction UNNECESSARILY used it to remove our remaining tree in the front yard, WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, because it was "inconveniently" located.

Bulldozer

Look how damaged the trees are in the background, next to the "lonely" chimney. They were eventually removed for a total loss of 16 trees, including the one that Global Construction butchered for their 'convenience'...boo-hoo!

Burned trees

It took three workers, seven days and six huge dumpsters to remove all the rubble. We were lucky that the "Santa Ana" winds waited until we were finished with that part of the project!

Huge dumpster

You can view a short MPG video overview of the scene one month after the fire. Or another short video of the bulldozers at work during the demolition. Our poor neighbors had to listen to this for days on end. :-(
