The second month was a very exciting time because the framing was started in Week 6 and by Week 6 things actually started to look like a house!! There were quite a few "exciting moments" and progress was easier to SEE as walls, beams, ceiling and fireplace started to go up! Hooray for Blue Ribbon!

As of Tuesday, July 24, we had a wall!

Our First Wall

Our dogs, Katie and Star, remember the old place and are happy to see construction, too.

Katie and Star

Everything is reinforced with huge bolts and major braces...very strong!

There are also metal cross-bars to keep things from shifting in an earthquake.

Within a few days, they had half the house framed!

Each day we can see more progress...and watching them lift the huge beams with this strange piece of equipment was pretty interesting.

Beam Lifter

The pieces started to come together and it is actually starting to look like a house is "growing" here.

Bedroom Beams

We have such a good crew, very hard working!

Juan and Robert on the Ladders

We really got excited when the tongue-in-groove ceiling started going up.

The next excitement was seeing our new fireplace starting to be built!

Building the Fireplace

And it's also exciting to see the roofline start to take shape! Hooray!
