Our "rebuilt" Eichler home started looking a lot more like an Eichler and even more like a home as construction progressed. More exciting developments such as cabinet installation and drywall marked this month.

Getting the drywall was very exciting and made it feel more like a "real house"

Kitchen Drywall

Star and Katie really enjoy visiting the house but they find exploration much less convenient now that the walls are in place.

The HVAC soffitts double to provide lighting over the sink area, which is defined with "greenwall"...the electrical wiring for under-cabinet lighting also shows in this picture.

Blue Ribbon made sure to drape all of the wood areas to protect them from rain, which seems to have started a little early this year.

The interior doors were also installed during this timeframe.

And so was the mantel and the fireplace enclosure.

One of the MOST exciting things during this month, however, was seeing the kitchen cabinets go in. Here is the installation crew scurrying around a few days after Thanksgiving.

These cabinets came from Ikea and look great. Unfortunately, Ikea didn't ship all the pieces when they were supposed to so we are wtill waiting to have this job completed, more than one month later. Boo-hoo!

Cabinets

However, the price was great and the cabinets are really nice...plus they are EXACTLY the right type for an Eichler home...so much so that we have found out there are at least 8 other Eichler homes here in Orange with the exact same cabinets we got.

More Cabinets

The island is huge! In fact, the whole kitchen is huge and now that the cabinets are installed, we are realizing that we might need roller skates to get around while cooking dinner!
